This year has brought a variety of new cars to the UK market, ranging from compact city vehicles to large SUVs. Among these, the Dacia Spring and Citroën ë-C3 have made electric cars more affordable, and the performance electric car segment has grown with models like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N and MG Cyberster. Additionally, several petrol cars, such as the new Suzuki Swift, Dacia Duster, MG ZS, and Skoda Superb, have been introduced.
If these models haven’t caught your eye, here are twelve new cars set to debut in 2025.
Small Cars
Volkswagen ID.2
The Volkswagen ID.2, a compact hatchback, is part of Volkswagen’s plan to launch ten new electric cars in Europe by 2026. It will be the electric successor to the petrol-powered Polo, with the production model expected to be revealed next year and will be available for purchase a few months later. This model will be the most affordable electric vehicle in Volkswagen’s range, positioned below the ID.3.
Cupra Raval
The Cupra Raval, a sibling to the ID.2, is another small EV aiming for the budget market. Recently seen in testing, it features sporty design elements from the Cupra UrbanRebel concept and promises a range of up to 273 miles on a single charge, surpassing competitors like the Mini Cooper Electric and Renault 5 E-Tech.
Renault 4 E-Tech
Following the Renault 5 E-Tech, the slightly larger Renault 4 E-Tech will compete with models like the Mini Aceman and Kia EV3. Depending on the version, it will offer a range of either 186 or 250 miles. Renault is banking on its retro-futuristic design and competitive pricing to attract UK buyers.
Ford Puma Gen-E
The all-electric Ford Puma Gen-E is now available for order, with deliveries in 2025. Starting at £30,000, it offers a range of up to 234 miles per charge and more boot space than its petrol equivalent.
Alpine A290
The Alpine A290, a sportier version of the Renault 5 E-Tech, debuted at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It features a high-performance 220hp model that can accelerate from 0-62mph in 6.4 seconds, with a range of 226 miles.
Medium Cars
Jeep Recon
The electric Jeep Recon SUV is expected to launch in the UK next year, possibly followed by a hybrid version. Designed with off-road capabilities, it aims to deliver up to 373 miles on a charge.
Kia EV5
The Kia EV5, a smaller sibling to the EV9, is already available in China and other regions. Expected in the UK in late 2025, it will offer two powertrain options and features a versatile rear cabin that can transform into a “bedroom.”
BMW iX3 Neue Klasse
The BMW iX3, part of BMW’s Neue Klasse line, is set to arrive in the UK in autumn 2025. It will feature advanced battery technology that enhances range and reduces charging times.
Large Cars
Dacia Bigster
The Dacia Bigster, a larger version of the Dacia Duster, is one of the few new petrol cars launching next year. It will offer both front-wheel and all-wheel drive models, as well as a hybrid version.
Range Rover Electric
The Range Rover Electric is anticipated in British showrooms next year. It will closely resemble its petrol counterpart but will include a new torque management system for improved off-road performance.
Hyundai Ioniq 9
The Ioniq 9, Hyundai’s answer to the Kia EV9, will debut in the UK in the latter half of next year. It boasts a long wheelbase and a 110kW battery providing up to 385 miles per charge, with a performance variant available.
Volkswagen Tayron
The Volkswagen Tayron, a successor to the Tiguan Allspace, will be available in five- and seven-seat versions. It will offer petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid options, with the latter providing up to 60 miles on electric power alone.
What Else is Coming Next Year?
In addition to these models, the UK will see new arrivals like the Fiat Grande Panda, Hyundai Inster, and a new petrol-powered Renault Clio. Jeep’s Wagoneer S, Kia’s EV4, and Vauxhall’s Frontera will also join the market. The Chinese presence will grow with Leapmotor’s B10, BYD’s Sealion 7, and Smart’s new EV. More from Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Audi, and performance models from Abarth and Hyundai are expected.
Finally, Ferrari is set to unveil its first all-electric model, marking a significant shift towards electric vehicles in the industry.
