The all-electric BYD Sealion 7 has made its way to the UK market, offering two battery options across three different trim levels that customers can now order.
As BYD’s largest vehicle in the UK lineup, the Sealion 7 joins a competitive group of new electric coupé-SUVs, including models like the Cupra Tavascan, Ford Capri, Audi Q6 e-tron Sportback, and the new Peugeot E-3008. These models aim to compete with popular choices such as the Tesla Model Y.
This family-friendly car comes with three trim levels, each with unique powertrain setups. The entry-level ‘Comfort’ trim features a 308hp electric motor paired with an 83kWh battery, offering an estimated range of 300 miles and achieving 0-62mph in 6.7 seconds.
The mid-tier option is the ‘Design AWD’ trim, which uses the same 83kWh battery but adds an extra electric motor to boost power to 522hp, reducing the 0-62mph time to 4.5 seconds. However, this increased performance slightly lowers the range to 283 miles.
The top-tier ‘Excellence AWD’ trim includes a larger 91kWh battery. It matches the ‘Design AWD’ in speed but can reportedly travel up to 312 miles on a single charge.
A new ‘Intelligent Torque Adaption Control’ system has been developed for the SUV, available on dual-motor, all-wheel-drive models. This system distributes torque between the front and rear wheels to prevent skidding and enhance safety. BYD also highlights the vehicle’s suspension, which is optimized for superior handling and secure control.
