A tragic school shooting occurred at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin, resulting in the deaths of a teacher and student, with two other students in critical condition. Three other students and another teacher sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect, Natalie Rupnow, a 15-year-old student who also went by Samantha, was found deceased at the scene. The motive behind the shooting is still unknown, and police have not identified any prior criminal history for Rupnow.
In response to the tragedy, Abundant Life’s school relations director confirmed that the school does not allow firearms on campus and prohibits students from pretending to use finger guns. They also have security measures in place, including cameras and visual scanning of students entering the building.
Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers and President Biden expressed their sorrow and condemnation of the shooting, emphasizing the need for stronger measures to protect children from gun violence. Biden called for an end to the normalization of school shootings, stating that every child deserves to feel safe in their classroom.
