The national badminton championship recently took place in Khankendi, Azerbaijan after a long break. The event was organized by the Special Representative Office of the President of Azerbaijan in Khankendi, Aghdam, and Khojali districts, along with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Azerbaijan Badminton Federation. It was held at Nizami Ganjavi Secondary School No. 4 in the city.
Officials from the Special Representative Office, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Farid Gayibov, and media representatives attended the championship. After a badminton match, the minister and the official delegate announced the start of the event.
Gayibov mentioned the significance of sports returning to the liberated lands and highlighted the hosting of sports events in Khankendi. Mahmud Mammadov, a member of the Azerbaijani badminton community, was also present as an honored guest.
Winners and participants were awarded by officials from the Special Representative Office, Minister Gayibov, and President of the Azerbaijan Badminton Federation Taleh Ziyadov. The championship held in 1974 in Khankendi included clubs competing in both men’s and women’s categories.
The event showcased the growing sports scene in Khankendi and Azerbaijan as a whole.
