Costco is set to open six new locations in March 2025, expanding its reach to over 900 stores worldwide. Two of these new stores will be in Texas and two in California. The recent opening of Costco’s 897th store in Pleasanton saw record-breaking sales on the first day, with CEO Ron Vachris noting $2.9 million in sales.
The company plans to open a total of 29 new locations by the end of its fiscal year in 2025, with 26 being new buildings and three relocations. Ten of these new locations will be outside the U.S. Additionally, Costco saw a 7.6% increase in revenue from membership fees in the first quarter of its 2025 fiscal year.
Following a membership price increase in September, Costco’s annual fees for Gold Star and executive memberships rose, with the maximum annual reward for executive members also increasing. The company currently has 77.4 million paid memberships, with nearly half being executive memberships.
Costco has also implemented new scanning technology at some warehouses and will stop selling books in most stores after the holiday season. Stay updated on the latest news by following Mike Snider on X and Threads, and sign up for the trending newsletter for daily news updates.
