In 2024, 93% of businesses in the European Union implemented measures to protect the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of their data and ICT systems. The most common security measure adopted by enterprises was strong password authentication, with 84% of businesses implementing this measure. This was followed by data backup to a separate location at 79% and network access control at 65%. The least common measure was authentication through biometric methods, utilized by only 18% of enterprises.
At a national level, Finland had the highest percentage of businesses using at least 3 ICT security measures at 93%, followed by Denmark at 90%, and the Netherlands and Germany both at 87%. In contrast, Greece had the lowest percentage at 52%, with Bulgaria and Romania following closely at 53%.
