Two men were arrested for flying a drone too close to Logan International Airport, according to the Boston Police Department. Robert Duffy, 42, and Jeremy Folcik, 32, were taken into custody by the Boston Police Harbor Patrol Unit on Saturday night. A third suspect managed to escape on a boat and is still at large.
Authorities began monitoring the drone around 4:30 p.m. and used technology to track its location, altitude, and flight history. They determined that the drone posed a potential threat to the airport’s airspace. The Boston Police Department worked with various agencies to address the situation.
Officers were sent to Long Island, part of the Boston Harbor Islands, where the suspects were located. Two of them, Duffy and Folcik, were caught, and a drone was found in Duffy’s backpack. They are facing trespassing charges, with the possibility of additional fines or charges. They will appear in court at a later date.
The search continues for the third suspect, who fled the island by boat.
