One person was killed and nine others were injured in a mass shooting and a fiery crash in Towson, a Baltimore suburb, on Tuesday night. Law enforcement responded to the 8500 block of Loch Raven Boulevard around 7:15 p.m. The Baltimore County Police Chief, Robert McCullough, stated that it appeared to be a mass shooting incident with multiple people shot. The first arriving officer found a vehicle on fire near a funeral home, along with several gunshot victims in the area. The name of the deceased individual has not been released, and the conditions of the injured are unknown.
Authorities believe this was an isolated and targeted incident, with no further threat to the community. It is unclear if any suspects have been arrested. Police suspect that the shooting was targeted and the individuals involved knew each other.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, along with the Baltimore County Fire Department, were assisting at the scene. Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski expressed shock at the incident, stating that such events are rare in the area. Residents were assured that the police and fire departments have the full support and resources needed to bring the investigation to a conclusion.
