WWE fans have been asking for mid-card titles for the women’s division, and their wish was granted on the Nov. 8 episode of Friday Night SmackDown. The Women’s United States Championship was introduced by SmackDown GM Nick Aldis, and a tournament was announced that concluded at Saturday Night’s Main Event on Dec. 14.
The final match between Chelsea Green and Michin was intense, with Michin facing both Green and her tag team partner, Piper Niven. Despite the odds, Michin was able to hold her ground, but Green emerged victorious with her finishing move, the unprettier.
Both Green and Michin had to work hard to earn their spot in the finals. Green defeated Bianca Belair, Blair Davenport, and Bayley, while Michin defeated Piper Niven, Lash Legend, and Tiffany Stratton.
Despite their rivalry, Green and Michin were the perfect choices to kick off the Women’s US Championship. Their history dates back to their time in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) and continued through their NXT days.
Green’s victory over Michin marked her first singles win against her rival. Throughout her career, Green has held various titles, but the Women’s US Championship is her first singles title in WWE.
