People often think that getting a huge TV means spending a lot of money. However, JB Hi-Fi is challenging this idea by slashing the price of the 85-inch Samsung Q60D TV by 50%, making it as affordable as the smaller 65-inch version.
The Samsung Q60D is an entry-level 4K QLED TV. While it lacks some of the advanced features found in more expensive models, like 120Hz support for gaming, it’s still a great option for non-gamers. Our review showed that it delivers vibrant and punchy colors and maintains a natural look when displaying 4K HDR content.
Even though it doesn’t match the black levels of top OLED TVs due to its QLED panel and LED backlighting, the Q60D still handles darker scenes well, offering good shadow details and minimal backlight blooming. It’s particularly impressive with 4K HDR content, showing off excellent detail.
The Q60D comes with a good range of features, including support for HDR10+, HDR10, and HLG. However, like all Samsung TVs, it doesn’t support Dolby Vision. It may not cater to high-end gaming with 120Hz, but it does include Samsung’s Gaming Hub for easy access to game settings and supports cloud gaming apps like Xbox and Nvidia GeForce Now. Samsung’s Tizen OS, known for its user-friendly interface, provides access to popular streaming services.
While the sound quality of the Samsung Q60D isn’t exceptional, this is common among flat-screen TVs. For a more immersive audio experience, we recommend pairing it with a top-notch soundbar.
In our review, we mentioned that at its original price, the Q60D faced tough competition from more budget-friendly brands like Hisense and TCL. However, with the current 50% discount, the 85-inch model offers incredible value.
