Mad Catz, famous for its fight sticks, is launching a new force feedback racing wheel. The Mad Catz M.2.X. Pro is designed for easy setup, working seamlessly with both consoles and PCs. Inside the box, you’ll find the racing wheel, a six-speed shifter, foot pedals, and all necessary cables for power and connectivity.
Setting it up on a console is straightforward: just plug your console controller into the racing wheel and you’re ready to race. However, I encountered an issue when connecting my Elite controller to the wheel while playing Forza Motorsport—the main buttons didn’t function. Swapping to a standard controller resolved this problem, likely due to the custom button mapping on my Elite controller. Aside from this minor hiccup, the setup has been excellent.
The M.2.X Pro’s build quality is impressive. The steering wheel features a soft-touch material that feels like leather, enhancing the grip. The included brackets securely hold all the components in place during tight turns. Although there are suction cups at the wheel base, with the force feedback, it’s intended to be firmly attached to a surface for optimal use.
Since I’m not used to driving with a stick shift, I mostly opted for automatic settings or used the shift paddles. While I’m not expecting to win any races soon, once I got the hang of it, the experience felt fantastic. Using a racing wheel offers a deeper sense of immersion. I’m thinking about setting this up with VR for an even more engaging experience.
