Hyundai Collaborates with Google for Maps and Android Auto Integration

Hyundai Motor Group has teamed up with Google to bring Google Maps to the multimedia systems in their Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis vehicles. This integration will start with Kia models in North America and will later expand to other Hyundai Motor Group brands around the world.

The goal of this partnership is to improve navigation and infotainment by using the Google Maps Platform’s Places API. This API gives access to detailed location information, including business hours, contact details, ratings, and reviews for over 250 million places globally. Instead of offering full navigation, this collaboration focuses on enhancing location-based information to make in-car systems more accurate and functional.

Furthermore, Hyundai Motor Group plans to introduce the Android Automotive Operating System to their vehicles beginning in 2026. This system will allow drivers to enjoy Android Auto features directly within their cars’ infotainment systems. The Google Maps integration is a significant step toward this broader transition.

Hyundai says the collaboration highlights their dedication to providing advanced navigation and infotainment experiences. Kia drivers in North America will be the first to experience these upgraded Google Maps features, with a gradual rollout to follow for other Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis models worldwide.

By focusing on Google’s Places API, the partnership emphasizes comprehensive and up-to-date location details, supporting the group’s larger strategy to integrate Android Automotive and enhance connected car technologies.
