Residents in a Tarzana neighborhood were woken up early on Saturday morning by a Lamborghini SUV trying to escape from the police. The SUV crashed into multiple cars on Tampa Avenue and then caught fire.
The crash happened around 4 a.m., and people living in the area found the black SUV turned upside down with a lot of damage around it. They managed to rescue the driver from the vehicle.
A resident named Tristan shared with OnSceneTV that they initially thought the driver was not alive because he wasn’t responding. However, he eventually made a sound, and they were able to get him out of the SUV.
The Los Angeles Police Department mentioned that the California Highway Patrol was chasing the vehicle, but the reasons for the pursuit were not clear at the moment.
Gina Patterson, another resident, mentioned that the SUV hit several cars, destroyed a concrete mailbox, and ended up upside down. She heard the crash, went outside, and saw someone lying on the ground.
Neighbors reported that the SUV caught fire shortly after the crash. The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics took a 35-year-old man in serious condition to the hospital, according to LAFD spokesperson Margaret Stewart.
