If you’re a fan of sprint cars, super modifieds, and midgets, you’re in for a treat. At the PRI Show, Eric Yost and I couldn’t help but admire a Super Modified on display. These cars are built for speed on oval tracks, not road courses. They’re designed to turn left and only left. So, what happens when you try to adapt a sprint car to handle both left and right turns on a road course?
The answer is, surprisingly, yes—with a few modifications.
In the video below, Andrew Bogusz explains how he transformed his sprint car to tackle the American Speed Festival at the M1 Concourse road course in Pontiac, Michigan. In October, I had the chance to compete in the American Festival of Speed at my local road course, the M1 Concourse. This 1.5-mile track features some elevation changes, making it a tough combination for my sprint car. But with a few tweaks, my team and I managed to navigate the track’s reverse layout.
